ROAR On-road Nats: Hara takes Mod, Francis wins 19-turn, Ellis captures Stock

Speedline Hobbies, Largo, FL: Atsushi Hara absolutely dominated the Modified class and even lapped the entire field in every qualifier and in both of the Mains to take the championship. With a win in 19-turn, Team Losi's Matt Francis showed he still has what it takes as he enters his self-proclaimed last season of racing. Drew Ellis of Team XRAY/RC America earned his first National championship with a win in Stock Touring. Mike Lufaso won the 1/12-scale Modified class to give LRP/Reedy a second National title using brushless power—a feat yet to be matched.

Billy Easton bounced around a bit after leaving Team Associated, but it looks like the reigning IFMAR electric off-road World Champ now has finally put down some real roots. Billy just signed with juggernauts Team Losi and Team Trinity, and will equip his cars with Novak electronic gear to race both on-road and off-road classes in 2005.

Ryan flying at Losi Champs

The 4th annual Team Losi Off-Road Championships was hosted by the Minnreg RC Club in Tampa FL, but it may may as well have been called Cavalieriville. Ryan dominated the event by TQing and winning all the Factory electric classes with his Trinity-powered Associated rides. Cavalieri's Sirio-equipped RC10GT was the truck to beat in the Factory Nitro Truck class, but he gave up the win to Team Losi's Adam Drake after Adam exploited his Triple-XNT’s quick-change wheel feature to move into the lead with fresh rubber as Ryan’s GT slowed due to worn tires.

Reedy Race: Wins for Factory Team TC4 and JRX-S

Tamiya USA, Aliso Viejo, CA: Team Associated's Craig Drescher was the Invitational Class winner at the 2005 Reedy Race, which also marked the Factory Team TC4's competition debut... Jilles Groskamp took second with his XRAY T1FK, and Hot Bodies' Atsushi Hara wheeled the new Cyclone in for third. Meanwhile, in Open Mod, Josh Numan set the top qualifying time with his Team Losi JRX-S and lead a 1-2 finish with fellow Team Losi JRX-S driver Mike Truhe.

Team Associated’s Ryan Maifield took home the Factory Modified win with his T4 with a pair of second-place finishes and one win in the triple A-Mains. Ryan Cavalieri nabbed second, and Jared Tebo took third, all wheeling Factory Team T4’s. Tebo won the Factory Gas Truck class to no one’s surprise, but he did have to work a little harder than normal to pass teammates Ryan Cavalieri and Maifield for the win. Cavalieri TQ’d gas truck, but unfortunately was out of the race with mechanical trouble for the final 20 minutes of the 45-minute A-Main. Maifield took second and Team Losi/Trinity’s Adam Drake rolled across the line in third.
