With COVID restrictions lifting and being able to attend more RC events, the RV is going to get more use for sure. As with most RVs, ours has a capable but noisy propane generator. I say noisy because it’s designed to be used when you are inside the RV but at trade shows and outdoor events standing 15 feet from a loud generator trying to talk to customers or even just stand there is an impossible task.
Harbor Freight has a line of ultra-quiet generators that are undoubtedly the favorite at any of the last dozen events I’ve attended and because they are so quiet I’m guessing you haven’t even noticed them powering everything from food trucks to timing systems at the local 5K race. They range in output to whatever your needs may be but today we take a look at the Predator 3500, which was the size needed to power my 24-foot RV AC unit and whatever else was I need for off grid adventures.
My RV doesn’t have much storage so I ended up strapping it to a hitch-mounted carrier that also holds a cooler, chairs, folding tables and tent setup for events that I attend. The 3500 is substantial but has a compact footprint and is light enough for the average person to lift, so setup is a breeze. I especially like its electric start feature. After firing it up, you can easily stand and talk right next to it without having the raise your voice or plug your ears. When it is behind the RV like how I have mine, you can’t even hear it running.
As for performance the specs speak for themselves but the main one that I love is the 11-hour runtime. The long runtime lets me stay powered up the entire weekend on only 2 gallons of gas. The Predator 3500 generator was the perfect addition to my road show and has completely changed the experience for me at events. It is reliable, quiet and efficient. That’ everything I could want in a generator.
