LaTrax made its debut with the on-road Rally (as featured on our September 2013 cover), and now has a machine for the dirt with the Teton. The 4X4 truck shares its chassis with the Rally but outfits it for off-road duty with a long-travel suspension system that features extra-long oil-filled shocks and extended shock towers to accommodate them. The electronics are waterproof, and the truck arrives “ready to explore” with a 2.4GHz transmitter (and AAs to power it), 6-cell NiMH battery, and wall charger. Suggested selling price is $150, and you’ll find a full review in the May issue of RCCA.
Looks tough! We like the “mini Telluride” styling.
The Teton shares its chassis decks and shaft-drive configuration with the LaTrax Rally, but the suspension is unique and build for off-road work. Note the buttresses that reach up to the shock towers to provide extra support. The long-travel shocks are oil-filled and their smooth action rivals larger 1/10 scale shocks.
The shaft-driven 4WD system spins on ball bearings and uses metal ring and pinion gears. Plastic universal-joint driveshafts spin the wheels.
The good-looking rubber and rims mount to standard-size 12mm hexes.
