Repairing and rebuilding your RC car or truck is something we all have to do at some point. Erich is always telling me, “You’re not having fun until you break something.” In the event that you do end up breaking you car, you might find that it’s easy to take it apart, but sometimes getting it back together without a leftover screen can be a challenge. Sure, you can take your RC vehicle apart, but can you put it back together again and have it perform like new, if not better? With these simple tips, you will be a master mechanic using nothing more than simple things you have around the house.
You’ll Need
- Camera
- Sandwich bags
- Market
- Towel or pit mat
- Instruction manual
- Basic Tools
- Cleaner/Degreaser (Simple Green, motor spray)
Getting Started
First things first, make sure the vehicle is clean – this way, you can see what is wrong with your ride. Once you have it cleaned up and any excess dirt brushed away, lay down a towel to stop screws and parts from rolling off; this also makes it easier to see them on the bench. Next, look over the whole car and examine every nut, bolt, pivot point and piece of plastic for any sign of defects. Once you have found your problem, it’s time to take apart the car.
