The Gens Ace Advanced 5500mAh LiHV hard pack is designed for use in the most demanding 2S battery applications. This Advanced battery boasts an impressive 100C output and features LiHV high-voltage cell chemistry so you can get the most out of the 2S pack. The battery is encased in a hard pack that keeps the battery cells safe in case of impact. Gens Ace Advanced battery packs include a built-in circuit board on the end of the pack that allows for monitoring battery voltage. The pack includes a button at the end of the pack with four status LEDs to show the charge percentage, as well as displaying different LED sequences for things like low voltage or overcharge warnings. The Gens Ace Advanced LiHV features flexible 12AWG wiring and comes pre-wired with an XT60 connector. Our test model featured a standard JST balance plug, but Gens Ace also offers this battery with their own G-Tech balance plug as well.

TESTING

As mentioned earlier, the Advanced pack is the perfect choice for high-intensity 2S applications. Whether this be competitive racing or high-power 2S bashing, the Advanced pack’s 100C output is up to the task. The hardshell case is sturdy and provides great protection for the internal cells. The built-in charge indicator on the side is perfect for enthusiasts with an extensive battery collection. It can be rather tedious to have to check the level of all your batteries, so having something like the Advanced pack’s charge indicator button makes life that much easier. I really appreciate these kinds of quality-of-life improvements; they make the hobby just that much more enjoyable.

The Advanced pack measures 154mm long, 45mm wide and 25mm high, a good bit bigger than a typical 2S hard case LiPo pack. This is most likely due to the added internal circuit for the charge indicator. Though this makes the pack unsuitable for more demanding space-saving applications like tight on-road racing chassis designs, it’s still a perfect fit for larger battery trays found in trucks and less demanding on-road models. If you’re at all concerned with space, though, it’s always good practice to measure before you buy. Overall, the Gens Ace Advanced 5500mAh LiHV pack is an impressive battery built to fill the needs of some serious RC uses.
