Mike tells us he’s been an avid RC’er and RC Car Action reader since the late ‘80s. We always love to hear from long-time loyal fans, but it’s the quality of Mike’s truck—and his killer photos—that got him a spot in this month’s Readers’ Rides. His Trail Honcho is the kit version, and he upgraded the stock chassis with a set of Pro-Line Powerstroke shocks. He installed a Futaba 3PM radio and plasti-dipped the Axial AE-2 controller before wiring it to the 27-turn Axial motor. Duratrax’s SX501WP waterproof metal-gear servo handles steering chores. To improve scale realism he installed a Dinky scale interior and an Axial LED headlight/taillight kit. There’s also a 3Racing winch run by an RC4WD Warn wireless winch controller. He painted both the interior and exterior of the body semi-gloss black so that trail wear appears more realistic. Mike says that of all the RC vehicles he’s owned over the years, he enjoys the combination of scale realism and versatility of the SCX10 chassis best.
