The Race Report: 6/28/11

This past weekend featured some pretty intense racing out in Alabama as well as San Diego. Lets start with Alabama, Team Associated’s Ryan Maifield is certainly leaving no stone unturned this season when it come to 1/8scale racing. He pulled off an impressive victory in both Buggy and Truggy with his LRP/Reedy-powered Team Associated vehicles, including having the fastest laps in two of the three qualifiers putting him on the pole for the two finals. It seems that AE’s continual hardwork on the RC8 platform is certainly paying off. Also up on the board is Team Durango/Tekin driver Ryan Lutz. Ryan drove his DESC410R to a 1st place victory in 4wd SC truck and managed to tuck right in behind Ryan Mafield for a 2nd in 1/8 Pro Buggy.

On the more local side of things out here in SoCal, TLR’s Frank Root won Pro 2 Short Course with his Losi XXX-SCT Roller at the Grand Opening of a new indoor facility called SDRC located in San Diego Ca. From the looks of it SDRC has both an indoor electric track and outdoor nitro 1/8 track. I’m think’n I might need to check that out sometime soon.

Check back soon for more weekly updates.

About the author

I've raced just about every type of RC car, traveled the world shooting RC races, but at the end of the day though, you'll most likely find me behind the wheel of a 1/8-scale nitro buggy at my local track. I'm a Southern California native, which on any given day allows me the opportunity to race on just about any surface or facility of my choosing. Before I was heavily into RC most of my attention was focused towards photography. Since, all of the experience that I've gained and learned has been projected towards RC photography. I'm fueled by the idea of creating something new every time I head to take pictures. Whether it's portraits, racing action, or a track panoramas.
