2011 marked the 25th annual running of the Cactus Classic. This years event was held March 18-20 at Scottsdale R/C Speedway in beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona. The Cactus is known world-wide as being one of the premier races of the year. This is one of those races where you have to experiesnce it at least one time. The perfect weather, great international field of competition, and precision ran race program has made this race standout from the rest for 25 years now. Later this year will be the 1/10 IFMAR Off-Road Electric Worlds and all the race teams are getting in some valuable testing with every major driver in attendance.

The race schedule consisted of:

Wednesday – Controlled Practice
Thursday – Controlled Practice
Friday – 2 5-minute Rounds of Qualifying
Saturday – 2 5-minute Rounds of Qualifying
Sunday – All Main Events

The standard 2 out of 4 points system was used this year once again to determine the overall qualifying order. All modified classes woud run 6-minute AAA-mains, while the stock and super stock classes would run 1 10-minute A-Main.

In the Modified Truck Class it was a battle throughout qualifying between Team Orion Teammates Jared Tebo and Ryan Cavalieri. Tebo would end up just edging out Cavalieri for the TQ honors.

In A-Main #1 it was Tebo who would take the Win, Cavalieri in 2nd, and Jakubczyk in 3rd. In A-Main #2 Cavalieri would take the win, Tebo in 2nd, with Phend in 3rd. In A-Main #3 the Championship would be decided. After a great battle it would be Cavalieri taking home the win and the Modified Truck Championship. Tebo would finish 2nd and 2nd overall. Jason Jakubczyk would finish 3rd in the last main to guarantee him 3rd place overall. This would make it a Team Orion sweep on the podium for the Modified Truck Class!
