Runaud Savoya scores Worlds Warmup win for Mugen

Many of the world’s best drivers converged on the famous Farm 2 track in Charlotte, NC this weekend in anticipation of the IFMAR World Championships to be held there in 2008. The racers battled muddy conditions as well as each other in the 1/8 scale buggy event, which made for exciting racing (and a lot of wrenching).

Jammin’s Taylor James TQ’d, but in the end, France’s Runaud Savoya took the win for Team Mugen. Team Losis Mike Truhe came in second, and Kyoshos Raul Peris took the third position.

Mike’ Truhe’s 8IGHT got out of the hole first and pulled away from the field. He was dominating and pulled two laps ahead of the rest of the guys, but two flame-outs forced Mike to give the lead to Runaud. Mike chased him down and caught Runaud’s MBX-5 when he started to have radio trouble. Mike took back the lead, but with one minute to go his car developed drivetrain trouble. Runaud was able to hold it together long enough to cross the line first. What a finish!
