We are running open practice right now, but the ROAR controlled practice will start up fairly soon. Team Associated is sponsoring a lunch at 1:30pm today for all paid entires, and it’s noon here so guys are trying to fight off the hunger so they can score a free lunch. :)

Just finished up my free lunch, thanks AE! Heats have been posted and controlled practice will start soon.

Had some bad luck and smoked my Novak Kinetic in my only practice run today in stock SCT, but Charlie Suangka with Novak Electronics is on site providing support and is fixing me up with a new system ASAP. Now that’s what I call customer service! :)

We are getting close to the end of the day. I probably should start gluing my tires now for tech inspections. :)

We had a quick driver’s meeting and a group photo and round 1 of qualifying was underway. This year’s race has 143 drivers and a total of 305 entries which is up from last year. I’ll be posting exclusive interviews about new products, new product shots, race videos, and much more today so keep checking back to this site.

There are some new products and vehicles here at the Nationals.

Panther is debuting a new 1/10 foam this weekend. The new foam is white in color and is softer than the current gray foam.

I noticed in the pits that Jared Tebo has a new paint scheme for his various rides.  All 3 of his mod vehicles use a different base color now, red, white, and blue.

Ryan Cavalieri is running his Team Associated Factory Team T4.1 and B4.1 this weekend, and both rides are powered by LRP’s new SXX TC Spec V2 line of speedos.  This is his 1st time running them and they are working good for him so far.

JConcepts has a Punisher body for the Team Associated B4, and Ryan Maifield is using the body this weekend.  They also have closed cell inserts for 1/10 2wd truck/buggy, 1/10 4wd Buggy (front), and short course trucks. The short course foam is blue and the others are black in color.  I’m also told that at this time there are no plans to make a front foam for 1/10 2WD buggy.X-Factory is in full force running their short course SCX – 60 conversion kit.  They now offer this kit with a replica of the Kevin Probst’s #9 E3 Spark Plugs Lucas Oil Pro-2 short course truck, and they even brought along one of his full scale rigs to park next to the track. Stay tuned for an exclusive interview with Kevin later this weekend.Pro-Line is using some new short course tires this weekend.  The Bow Fighter and Sniper tires are new to their short course line, and Team Driver Travis Amezcua has been having good success with them thus far.Speaking of Travis, he is a factory pilot for TQ Racing who has a strong team showing this weekend.  Check out my interview with Travis for more of their new short course ride.

The rain overnight is delaying the start of qualifying today. The RMT just announced that we will run a short practice then start racing around 10am

We are done with round 3 and have started round 4 of qualifying. It looks like we will be finishing around 9pm if all goes well. Also 2WD Mod buggy will be running under the lights which will be interesting since they haven’t had to do that in the previous rounds. Jared Tebo is using a while paint scheme for his Kyosho RB5, maybe that will be the hot ticket? :) Dustin Evans is having a good weekend for Mod 2WD Truck. He has finished 1st, 2nd, and 1st again after 3 rounds of qualifying.TQ Racing Team Manager John LoGiudice gave me the inside scoop on some upcoming product updates. Soon their 2WD/4WD buggy and 2WD Truck/Short Course kits will all feature big bore shocks. Their team drivers are using them this weekend and they have reported that they are great for soaking up the holes that have developed in the track surface at times. He also told me that they will be offering their pro roller kits soon. The kits will come with a ton of aluminum goodies, but they will also include both plastic and graphite parts so you can fine tune your vehicle to track conditions. Finally, he said their RTR offerings will include both a brushless motor and 2.4ghz radio system very soon.Kevin Probst from Probst Motorsports attended the races today. His actual full size short course truck has been on display since this event started, and X-Factory has a couple drivers running the replica truck too. Look for pictures and an interview with Kevin later on this site.

I heard a “newbie” to the nationals won A main in stock buggy. Believe he has never even raced a national event before but won the first 2 “A” mains. That would make a great story. His name is Kenny Ferris.
