Chassis.

The new chassis and narrowed front suspension holders help to increase stability & traction. The chassis features more cutouts for improved flex characteristics and additional cutouts that increase airflow for better motor cooling. The extra-large cutout under the servo and radio box allows super low mounting to reduce the CG.

Bulkheads.

The lowered bulkheads create clearance to lower the radio tray and the new design integrates the upper shock mount position to eliminate the need for a separate shock tower. The bulkheads also incorporate a flex adjustment for the front suspension using the included cross brace. The rear aluminum bulkheads have a 2mm wheelbase adjustment for the lower and upper arms for easy traction tuning.

Front Bulkheads.

The lower profile of the front bulkheads allows the radio tray to sit lower for improved CG. The upper shock mount position is also integrated into the bulkhead eliminating the need for a separate shock tower and creates an additional flex adjustment for the front suspension using included cross brace. The innovative front upper shock mounting system installs the front shocks directly to the upper clamps using shims for setup adjustments.

Chassis Flex.

The chassis flex on the RX8 is adjusted in front to control traction and responsiveness, while the center and rear of the car have optimized fixed flex settings for the best overall balance. The front chassis flex is adjusted in 4 different areas:

  • Front upper brace
  • Front Multi-Flex plate
  • Front upper arm holders
  • Front lower chassis brace

Front Upper Arm Holders.

The redesigned lightweight front upper arm holder features an additional flex setting by connecting the holder to the front bulkhead from the side to reinforce the assembly. The upper arm holders use the smaller eccentric bushings and spacing shims from the NT1 for a more compact design to create the space to lower the radio tray height and reduce the overall CG.

Rear Upper Arm Holders.

Redesigned graphite rear upper arm holders provide more clearance above the rear belt. The rear upper arm holders are machined from strong 3.5mm graphite material for optimal flex of the rear suspension. Both front & rear plates are mounted on the rear upper clamps to capture the upper pivot pins.

Receiver Box.

The receiver box was completely redesigned. The new lightweight shape is ultra-compact and can be positioned as low as possible and closer to the chassis centerline for better weight distribution.

Servo Saver.

The redesigned servo saver has a shorter stand to match the lowered radio tray position and a key-lock system that ensures the servo saver will stay secured even during chassis flex in extreme conditions.

Rear Transmission

The updated rear transmission features simplified aluminum holders that eliminate unnecessary braces to increase chassis flexibility in key areas while their wider positioning provides improved support for the speed shaft. To increase transmission reliability, the speed shaft adapter for the rear belt pulley now uses longer pins. The one-way carrier has a new lightweight design for reduced rotating mass. The transmission parts are installed on a precision-manufactured, super-smooth hollow middle layshaft made from tough HUDY shaft steel that is additionally heat treated for extra strength and long life.

Radio Tray.

Thanks to the new compact receiver box, the radio tray layout has space to move the servo lower with the receiver box located in the middle. The steering servo holders are also redesigned.

Suspension Arms.

RX8E now includes hard composite suspension arms, steering blocks and rear uprights to compliment the improved chassis flex and keep suspension geometry more consistent, providing more stability and accuracy compared to previous models.

Suspension Holders.

The new rear suspension holders are mounted with 2 larger screws instead of 4 smaller screws for improved reliability. The holders’ lowest position is 1mm lower than previous models to help generate more traction when needed. The new chassis provides additional clearance for this lower position. A new rear wheelbase setting is adjusted by moving the upper and lower arms along the longer suspension holder pins.

Shock Mounting Extensions.

The longer lower arm shock mounting holders compensate for the narrower inner suspension holder position to maintain proper shock absorber geometry.

Pivot Balls.

New longer front lower pivot balls are used to offset the narrower front suspension pivot point and retain full width adjustments.

The RX8E pivot ball suspension contains precision pivot balls that are specially hardened to better withstand harsh crashes and extend their lifespan. A total of eight (8) pivot balls are included and are captured by strong M10 composite nuts to minimize weight and give smooth suspension movement.

Steering Blocks.

The new steering blocks are molded from a hard composite mixture to keep suspension geometry more consistent and to provide more stability and accuracy compared to previous models.

Rear Uprights.

The new rear uprights are also molded from the harder composite mixture to maintain proper suspension geometry and to provide more stability and accuracy compared to previous models.

Front Anti-roll Bars.

To improve out of the box performance in all standard racing conditions, the choice of the anti-roll bars was revised with the front 2.4mm and rear 2.6mm anti-roll bars and appropriate roll bar bushing sizes. The anti-roll bars have a new shape to match the new bearing bushings. Mounting the new fixed front anti-roll bar holders without the eccentric bushing makes the down-stops easier to set.

Rear Anti-roll Bars.

Bumper.

The front lower bumper features extra body mount positions to fit all popular racing bodies. The redesigned aluminum front body posts use eccentric mounting for front/rear mounting positions.

PUR Drive Belts.

To increase the reliability and strength, the rear drive train features wider 9mm PUR belt. The PUR®-reinforced high-efficiency low-friction drive belts ensure that power is properly and efficiently transferred to all drivetrain parts.

Shock Springs.

To provide a perfect feeling out of the box for most standard track conditions, the included shock springs are updated to the C7.5 springs in front and C5.6 for the rear. The C7.5 provides maximum stability and at the same time more steering into the corner.

The RX8E springs, like all the other XRAY springs, are manually measured, selected, and matched into pairs to guarantee precisely equal length and tension characteristics.

Wheelbase.

New rear aluminum bulkheads have a 2mm wheelbase adjustment for the lower and upper arms for easy traction tuning.

Wheelbase can be easily adjusted using clips on the front suspension. Moving the arms towards the front or rear can also be used to fine-tune weight balance.
