Vintage Off-road Nationals – Saturday Gallery

What an awesome first day at the Vintage Nats. This year the race left the indoor scene behind and went true old school at the brand new outdoor club track at the Bethel Racearena. The topsoil surface and true vintage layout lent itself to some awesome racing. While 2wd and Stadium truck are always great classes to watch, this year’s 4wd and Classic classes have grown to be super competitive as well. Here’s a look at some of the action from todays qualifying.

  1. This is the greatest thing ever.
For me, I don’t have a ton of interest in the newer stuff. I’ve got a Nitro Rustler that sits gathering dust in a cabinet, because I’d rather take my old Tamiya Hilux Racer out and run it around. Perhaps it’s nostalgia, or reliving my childhood, but I often find myself scouring ebay for vintage kits, and barely give notice to anything “new”. This hobby has only ever been about fun for me, and the old stuff is just more fun in my mind. Not to mention cheaper.

  2. This truly was a great event! I loved every minute of it! It was so worth the trip from NJ! I have to say thank you to Erich for putting together such a high quality event! I can’t wait till next year! Thank you Frank
