In the days before LiPo batteries and brushless motors were common, knowing how to solder was a necessary skill to have in the RC hobby. These days ready-to-run vehicles and plug-n-play electronics make knowing how to solder a less necessary skill. However, it’s a good skill to have if you ever need to re-attach a loose wire, install a motor that doesn’t have pre-soldered wires, or plan to race competitively. Here are a few soldering basics.
