Tamiya Announces New Releases For Early 2021

On Monday Tamiya officially announced their new products and re-releases that are due in early 2021. Products ranged from Radio Control, Scale Models, Mini 4WD, Craft and Educational, and Tools. Here is a closer look at the RC products that were announced earlier today.

1/14 R/C Mercedes-Benz Arocs 4151 8×4 Tipper Truck

Here comes a heavyweight truck model! This assembly kit depicts the Arocs 4151 8×4 dump truck from the world’s leading truck manufacturer, Daimler AG (Germany). There is plenty to catch the imagination with a superbly realistic chassis that will provide an engrossing build and drive.

The body features cab rails, intake duct and other details. Separate parts recreate side mirrors and visor, etc.

The roof features a depiction of light pods on the visor. Fit them with separately sold LEDs for a realistic finish.

3-speed transmission can be controlled via a separately sold 4ch R/C transmitter.

Features a realistic bed with metal frame which can be moved by the separately sold Actuator Set (Item 56545).

1/10 R/C Landfreeder Quadtrack (TT-02FT)

High Performance Tracks

Tamiya is delighted to welcome the Landfreeder Quadtrack to the world of R/C. This model uses a new variant of the TT-02 chassis with three-sided track units instead of the wheels: the result is awesome traction, even on rough terrain. CR-Tuned motor is included as the kit-standard motor.

The body is molded in polycarbonate, pre-painted Black (PS-5) with Smoke (PS-31) windows.

Track units are attached to suspension arms via plates, and each features a sprocket and four rollers.

Tracks require assembly from links, and offer efficient traction. Two types of link (standard and grouser) are included.

Each track unit pivots on a point at the top of its roller arm. The sprung third roller further enhances your ride.

1/10 R/C 2020 Ford GT Mk II (TT-02)

An Absolute Stunner

A true supercar graces the TT-02 chassis model line-up in the form of the 2020 Ford GT Mk II, an exclusive car of which only 45 are to be produced. Now, Tamiya has recreated the aerodynamically-refined silhouette of this breathtaking subject in style, with a polycarbonate body, and separate parts.

The ultra-honed form of the car is recreated in lightweight polycarbonate.

Twin five-spoke wheels are in line with the model’s racy look, and are molded in gun metal color.

Stickers are included to decorate the body, as are masking stickers for use in the paint job.

1/10 R/C 1998 Ford Escort Custom (TT-02)

Street Version of Rally Car

This R/C model assembly kit recreates a 3-door hatchback Ford Escort Mk.6 with customizations such as blister fenders, front spoiler and rear wing. The powerful form is captured by a polycarbonate body which is based on the efficient shaft-driven 4WD of the TT-02 chassis.

Features a polycarbonate body, which is unpainted for export. Stickers are also included.

Separate parts are included for side mirrors and rear wing. Stickers and masking stickers are also included.

The TT-02 chassis is a highly versatile shaft-driven 4WD unit, based around a durable bathtub.

A True Legend

This assembly kit recreates the 406 Series Unimog that was a hit after its full-size debut in 1963, a polycarbonate body recreating the distinctive form, plus a plated depiction of the front grille also included. Take this model off-road for some serious rough riding fun!

Features a durable polycarbonate body with separate parts included for side mirrors and fuel tank.

Includes block pattern tires, and red ABS wheels with a depiction of bead lock designs.

Return of the Hotshot!

Here comes another release in the popular series of Comical Buggy models of comical-ized classics – the Comical Hotshot! The original Hotshot was our first shaft-driven 4WD buggy back in 1985. Now, it is re-imagined as the Comical Hotshot, on the 4WD GF-01CB chassis which gives stable 4WD.

ABS two-part wheels have red rim and white spoke parts.

Separately sold 5mm LEDs can be used to light up the model. Light pods are also included.

The body is pre-painted in PS-2 Red. Stickers based on the 2007 re-issue Hotshot are also included.

1/10 R/C Plasma Edge II Iridescent Purple/Green (TT-02B)

Back with a Bold Color Scheme!

The stylish Plasma Edge is back, this time as a limited edition kit with a bold iridescent paint job that will seriously turn heads. The model is based upon the TT-02B chassis, the buggy version of our beginner-friendly, highly tunable shaft-driven 4WD TT-02.

The stylish polycarbonate body and wing are pre-painted in PS-46 Iridescent purple/green, and pre-cut.

The TT-02B chassis is the buggy evolution of Tamiya’s popular 4WD entry level unit, the TT-02 chassis.

Understated black wheels and dampers ensure the eye is drawn to the body. Also, Stickers have a dedicated color scheme for this model.

Tamiya is delighted to announce a color variation version of a re-release classic – The Grasshopper II. The famed body is molded in black plastic, and CVA oil dampers are included as standard for export kits only. A controllable, versatile drive awaits!

The body is molded in durable black polystyrene.

Comes with CVA oil dampers and Item 45069 TBLE-04S for export only.

Stickers and a driver figure (not painted) are also included.

Making New Memories

1996 was the year that the Fighter Buggy RX first appeared, and it played a big part in the German “Fighter Cup” series, which also started in the same year and marks its 25th anniversary in 2021. To celebrate, we are releasing this special Memorial edition of the kit on the DT-01 chassis.

The front of the model employs a swing axle setup for ample stroke. Parts are also included to create a driver figure.

Features a stylish black molded body and gleaming gold color plated wheels and gray dampers.

The ABS resin body keeps the shape and design theme from its predecessor, accenting it with updated markings.

This R/C model assembly kit is a re-released and updated version of Top-Force EVO., first released in 1992. Its lightweight and highly rigid double deck frame covers front/rear gearboxes with 2mm thickness carbon fiber upper and lower plates, and facilitates easy maintenance.

Features double deck frame and damper stays crafted in lightweight and rigid carbon fiber material.

Tamiya is delighted to announce this re-issued and updated version of the 1988 hit buggy Thunder Dragon. With shaft-driven 4WD, ground hugging suspension providing a super drive, plus the stylish body which appeared in a classic R/C comic in Japan, this will be an exciting release.

The body is molded in polycarbonate and pre-cut, with non-canopy sections pre-painted in silver.

Semi-pneumatic spike tires give great grip, and are paired with large-diameter ABS wheels.

The Heat is On

This is an updated re-release version of the 4WD buggy Fire Dragon. This durable model is based around a bathtub frame plus front and rear gearboxes with suspension attached. Its 4-wheel double wishbone suspension uses CVA oil dampers and gear differentials are in sealed gearboxes.

A new aluminum motor mount gives improved rigidity.

Nostalgic 90s Form

Get some 1990s touring car action with this welcome return for the Opel Calibra V6 to the Tamiya R/C model line-up! The 1994 model’s stylish, bulky 2-door body is recreated in polycarbonate with separately molded side mirrors, wiper arms and rear wing, and two big sticker sheets to decorate it.

The polycarbonate body captures the bulky form with separate parts recreating the side mirrors, etc.

Two big sticker sheets recreate the various sponsors and other markings. Masking stickers are also included.

The model utilizes the shaft-driven 4WD TA02 chassis, which is based around a durable bathtub frame.
