Spotted: X Factory SCX–60CF Shock Towers And Body Mounts For Kyosho Shocks

I stopped by the local indoor track this week to see what the newest gear was in the pits and I noticed this X Factory SCX–60CF. The SCX–60CF conversion kit converts an existing Team Associated SC10 into a very narrow, carbon fiber chassis layout with a mid motor setup. These conversion kits have been seen at larger races in the hands of team drivers and are now available to the general public. Each kit is numbered when completed and you can see in the pictures below that this kit is number 28 in the production process.

What made this truck stand out to me was that it was using Kyosho shocks which require taller front and rear shock towers plus different body mounts. To resolve that issue this local racer turned to X Factory pilot Chris Krieg out of Arizona who has been manufacturing carbon fiber shock towers and body mounts for just this type of setup. No word yet if X Factory will offer this directly as an option part for their conversion kits using this same setup or not.

  2. Right now we have no plans to sell Chris “Speedy Dad” Krieg’s Kyosho big bore towers or the body mounts you need with them. We’ve got our hands full with production & marketing of the SCX – 60CF, which Dad designed, and developing our X – 7 4WD car. We do endorse Chris’ towers, and suggest you contact him if you want to run the Kyo BBs. I’m not sure if they fit other brands of shocks.

When and if AE puts BB on the SC10, we will make whatever changes in the Kit are necessary to accommodate those parts.

  3. It is no big secret that AE is testing out big bore shocks so I’m thinking that when they develop one for the SC10 they will start including that shock tower with this kit. But they can also offer the Kyosho tower if there is enough demand for it.

  4. I think the plan is yes, It has been argued the Kyo shocks are among the smoothest on the market. Plus the longer shocks will allow for better suspension movement, wouldn’t surprise me if Xfactory was planning on using kyo shocks on their personal shocks
