Readers Ride Title The Big Huh from Down Under Drag Truck

Chassis Brand Custom
Chassis Model Custom aluminium tube
Custom Chassis Brand and Model I created a custom aluminium tube frame into the chassis to provide strength to my build.
I used K&S 9802 Round Aluminium tubing custom shaped under Bullhead body
Body Brand Tamiya
Body Model Bull head bodies
Power System Electric
Electric Motor Brand and Model Power comes from a Traxxas 3500KV sensorless brushless motor with cooling fan.
Speed Control Brand and Model Traxxas Velineon 3355R VXL-3S ESC with cooling fan.
Battery Brand and Model Two 8.4v NIMH 3000Mah batteries.
Wheels and Tires Brand and Model I sought Traxxas talon tires with wheel combination for ultimate grip on the road.
Shocks Brand and Model Traxxas part 5862 big bore shocks (shortened)
Axles Brand and Model To handle the high speed and high torque launches I used spiral bevel gears from a drill then adapted / paired up with a modified transmission from a Traxxas Stampede.
Paint Brand and Model I choose Tamiya hobby spray TS-58 Pearl Light blue and TS-12 Orange paint on the body to get the Gulf colour’s.
Graphics Brand and Model I sought Gulf brand stickers from MCI racing to create my custom build.
Scale Accessories Brand and Model I created the wing and body parts out of Perspex then used wood putty followed by sanding to create a streamline finish. I also included the chrome accessories from the Tamiya Bullhead model kit.
Light System Brand and Model Nil light system
Radio System Brand and Model Traxxas TQi 2.4 GHz 4ch radio
Sound System Brand and Model Nil sound system

Traxxas aluminium front and rear hubs and 6115 metal bearings throughout
Further Description/Back Story Full custom body and paint job. I created the body from two Tamiya Bullhead bodies.

I narrowed a Traxxas bandit suspension and shocks also I reduced the steering ratio to fit under the the Tamiya Bullhead wheel arches. Which provided me the opportunity to drive straight for a quarter mile.

This project has taken 3 months to come to fruition. My inspiration came from a small matchbox car I had from my childhood.
