Second Life: When the pins wear out on my off-road tires, I do not throw them away immediately. I save in a special box and when I need to make some shakedown runs in my asphalt driveway or I want to do some pavement running, I do not have to burn out my good dirt tires.

The lugs usually wear on the rear facing edge(unless you race in reverse lol) I get two races out of a set of tires by rotating the wheels so the worn edge of the lugs are now facing forward to allow the sharp remaining edge to bite under acceleration. No noticable loss in performance and easier on the wallet.
I also keep my old tire because if you are careful you can cut the inserts out and reuses them
I thought everyone did that.
