Team Associated driver Jared Tebo took the win in the 2WD Mod class at the Pro-Line/RC Car Action Cactus Classic in Scottsdale, AZ, which proves the well-known nitro specialist is an equally talented electric racer. Team Trinity's Ryan Cavalieri won Mod Truck, while Ryan Mayfield finished first in 4WD with his J-Concepts buggy. What do these three drivers have in common? They’re all 19 years old or younger.

Tamiya TNX Wins Monster Madness II

Tamiya was the big winner at the second annual RC Car Action Monster Madness race, hosted by RC Madness in Enfield, CT. Team drivers Jimmy Jacobsen (who took the TQ spot) and David Jun dominated the small block class with their TNX trucks, besting a field that included Traxxas' hard-charging Steve Slayden and his Revo. Slayden was gaining on the front-running Tamiya drivers, but flamed out before he could close the gap. Jacobsen took the checkered flag with two laps on the field, followed by Jun and Slayden. Congratulations Tamiya!

Pro racers Scott Hughes and Jared Tebo take home $1000 at RCX

On Sunday, Team Associated’s Jared Tebo earned his share of the $1000 purse by putting his RC10GT ahead of the competition.
OS .18 TZ shatters the two horsepower barrier!

OS .18 TZ shatters the two horsepower barrier!

Prior to our latest dyno test, the most powerful small-block engine we've tested was high-strung .12 competition engine. At 1.6 horsepower, this engine put out more power than any small block of any displacement - until now.

In a recent dyno test for an upcoming issue of RC Nitro magazine, the new OS .18 TZ rear-exhaust engine cranked out a record setting 2.28 bhp at 30,500 rpm. It shatters the 2hp barrier for small-block engines well before anyone else had a chance to get close, making more horsepower than four very prominent big-block engines we've previously tested. The TZ also set a new high mark for torque, measuring an amazing 83.1 oz.-in. at 25,850 rpm.

The new TZ is a ground-up design that features a 5-port configuration with a turbo head and crank. An all-new 3-needle 11K carb features a big 6.5mm venturi for better breathing. For more information on the .18 TZ and other engines, visit the O.S. Engines website. To discuss this new engine at the RC Zone, home of the best RC forums in the world, Click Here.

Bradley Joins Jammin’

Longtime Mugen off-road ace Chad Bradley will be joining Adam Drake on the Jammin' squad and running the Jammin X1-CR and CRT for the remainder of the '05 season and on into '06. "I have known Chad a longtime and he is a great person and driver, so we are stoked to have him on the team," says team captain and Jammin' namesake Jay Halsey. Chad's a top five regular in 1/8-scale off-road and Unlimited Monster Truck, so expect results.
Tamiya 1/8-scale TNX Monster Truck

Tamiya 1/8-scale TNX Monster Truck

Tamiya's Terra Crusher follow-up is called the TNX, and lops nearly 4 pounds off the original truck (3.5-4lbs, depending on who you ask). Much of the weight savings comes from the smaller-diameter, thinner-carcass tires--and we all know how all-important rotating weight is. Other major changes include an O.S.-built .18 engine, and a new chassis that spans from shock tower to shock tower (as you'll recall, the Terra Crusher's chassis plate stopped short of the front suspension, where a plastic nose section with integrated electronics box took over). Electric starting returns, but reverse does not.- FS-18RS engine
- Pre-painted Body
- 3.5lbs. lighter than the Terra Crusher
- Claimed speed in excess of 40mph
- Electric start
- Two-speed forward only transmission
