Old-school stunner: PROTOform’s new ’71 Firebird Trans Am

Old-school stunner: PROTOform’s new ’71 Firebird Trans Am

The original touring car boom of the 90s was fueled by an assortment of body and wheel combination that emphasized scale appeal, but the popularity of the class waned over the following two decades as new shells molded with pure speed in mind changed the face of the cars forever. The Vintage Trans-Am racing movement aims to recapture that original charm with rules mandating use of realistic bodies, and with incredible options such as PROTOform’s new Firebird it’s easy to see why this class is catching on at asphalt and carpet tracks across the country!

New from PROTOform!

Vintage Trams Am class racing has taken off in the past few years as an opportunity for racers to break in to on-road R/C, providing close racing, scale realism and warm and fuzzy feelings of the good ol’ days of American road course racing.

The Pontiac® Firebird Trans Am was one of the signature cars of the former full-scale series, and now PROTOform has captured its trademark look in our release of the 1971 model for your VTA class R/C Touring Car. From its aggressive front “beak”, to the duck tail-style rear spoiler, to the mother of all macho items, – the shaker hood scoop – no detail was overlooked. The front nose cone is molded separately, and when mounted with the 2mm screws and/or liquid adhesive, it becomes an integral part of the body. Because this area of a race body is the most prone to racing wear and tear, a second nose is included.

This officially licensed product is produced in genuine .030 Lexan® material and meets all VTA Class rules. The clear body comes with protective overspray film, window masks, detailed decal sheet that lets you choose to style your Firebird as a full-blown race car, or head-turning street machine.
