Don Almeido tells us he owes much of the inspiration for his throwback Corvette Interceptor to the O.S. TZ-TX .18 nitro motor and the review entitled “Weapon of Mass Combustion” that ran back in the day in our sister publication RC Nitro Magazine. He was inspired by that article to build a car around that engine, and selected the Super Nitro RS4 as his platform of choice. It took him more than a year to complete and uses some parts that are now discontinued and hard to find, so this is a real time capsule. He focused on increasing stability and strength to hold up to the power of the TZ-TX, which he runs on 25% nitro fuel when he feels the urge for some old-school nitro speed.
