Elliot Boots Scores 4th BRCA Title With BYRON FUELS

Byron Fuels factory driver Elliot Boots just took the 2018 British Radio Car Association 1/8 Nitro Buggy national title, a feat the Kyosho driver has now repeated four times. We spoke to Elliot about his latest win and what it takes to be competitive at racing’s highest level.

Congrats on your fourth BRCA title. Any shout-outs to get things started?
I want to say a huge thank you to Mick Cradock for his outstanding help all year, not only at the track but also the time and effort in preparation for all races, it’s a lot of work and he does faultless work. Thank you to Team Kyosho UK for the team effort and for everyone helping me and Mick, top team effort. I want to say thank you to all my sponsors for their support and providing me with the best products allowing me to take another title so thank you, everyone, it means everything.

When the wins stack up, do you feel extra pressure to keep the streak going?
Thank you very much. As a team we worked well to stay consistent and fast throughout the season. Winning another title doesn’t put me under any more pressure, but gives me more confidence and drive to win many more.

How important was fuel strategy for the win?
It is very important to have good fuel strategy, having a great quality of fuel makes a big difference especially in high temperatures so that you can continue running without incident. Using Byron gives me the confidence in a race as I know it will never let me down.

What’s your preferred blend?
I prefer and always use Byron RACE ProDriver 2500 Gen 2, which is 25% nitro and 9% oil. This blend gives me the best feeling of the engine along with the safety of the oil content for the correct amount of lubrication inside the engine. Using RACE 2500 Gen 2 with 25% nitro and 11% oil for breaking in engines is a very good idea as it well lubricates the engine while they are new and tight.

Byron fuel is obviously good stuff since you’ve won four BRCA Nats with it (among other races), but do you notice a difference compared to other fuels?
Since using Byron fuels I have noticed the amazing consistency in fuel batches. Every gallon of fuel I open performs just as good as the last with no changes in tuning or setup. Compared to other fuels I have used Byron makes for the easiest to tune my engine.

Do you notice a difference in the condition of the internal parts? Byron claims less varnish and carbon buildup.
Since using Byron fuel my engines are always in perfect condition when checked at the factory by Mario Rossi, his comments are always positive. The piston has shows that the fuel is burning correctly with high quality oil. All internals are well lubricated increasing the life of the engine.

What’s your advice for nitro racers looking for an edge?
My advice for nitro racers is to make sure to get your hands on the best quality products you, remember, to win you need everything to go right but it takes only one thing to go
wrong. For this reason I make sure I only use the best products throughout and Byron is the highest quality fuel on the market making me very lucky and proud to be part of the team.
