Tamiya Clod Buster Dovetailed Body [PREMIUM EXCLUSIVE]

Tamiya Clod Buster Dovetailed Body [PREMIUM EXCLUSIVE]

Kev

One modification that you see on some fill-size trail rigs is a dovetailed front end, rear end or both. This provides better ground clearance, visibility and in my eyes gives the truck a really cool look. I have been toying with the idea of doing this to one of my Tamiya Clod Buster bodies for years and it’s now officially a how to that will be in the January 2018 issue of Car Action. You can read the article to see how it was done and get a seek peak at the body right now.

Dovetail

Cuts on the body were made on top of the hood, in front of the doors and in the middle of the front fenders. The plastic piece under the grill was shortened on each side and the light portion of the grill was cut off and I tucked in the fenders almost 3/4-inch on each side. A little filler is all that is needed to complete the job before applying primer and paint.
