Custom ’33 Willys Gasser by Scott Lempert [READER’S RIDE]

Custom ’33 Willys Gasser by Scott Lempert [READER’S RIDE]

There’s just something about a gasser. Hotrodders know it, and its on display with Scott Lempert’s custom ’33 Willys. The body is completely hand-built by Scott out of styrene. He fabricated the chassis too–incorporating Tamiya King Hauler front and rear axles. You can lift off the front bodywork to reveal a gasser staple: a big-block Chevy 454–again crafted from styrene and equipped with Hillborn fuel-injection topped with a set of velocity stacks. Even cooler–the electric motor that powers the car is hidden inside that Rat motor block! The engine compartment also features an MSD Blaster coil, DataPack and 2-Step by Exclusive-RC. The direct-drive transmission is from Electrifly and a HobbyWing 1060 doles out the juice from a compact 1800mAh 2S Lipo hiding under the rear deck.Wheels are vintage units from HPI and Scott looked to Traxxas’ funnycar for front tires, while he spliced together two sets of King Hauler tires for the rear.
