The Cow RC Standard Magnetic Screw Catcher Work Mat will help contain loose tools and unruly screws during kit builds and maintenance. Cow RC’s patent-pending design incorporates a strong, vinyl-covered magnetic sheet as the base for the work mat and a raised organizational palette made from ¼in thick industrial grade closed-cell polyethylene foam that creates a large main work area, with several smaller segments for tools, screws, and parts.

The mat’s heavy-duty vinyl coating is stain-resistant, easy to clean, and is matte white for maximum visibility with minimal glare. The Large size work mat featured here measures 19 inches by 24 inches and includes two large outer and six small inner parts segments.

Testing

Building and maintaining RC vehicles can get a little messy at times, so I’m all for any solution that simplifies and cleans up the process. The Cow RC Screw Catcher work mat does just that by keeping things organized. The compartment design is well laid out and the ¼in thick foam keeps items in check.

Its two larger compartments hold small tools in place nicely, and the smaller inner segments keep screws and other small parts in order. If more organization is needed, then you can easily expand your capacity with simple metal parts trays. Metal trays like this work perfectly when placed on the magnetic mat surface since they adhere to the mat and don’t slip around.

The work mat’s large main work area is more than enough space for both 1/10 and 1/8 scale applications, making it the perfect addition to almost any enthusiast’s work bench. In use the mat does an excellent job of keeping screws from rolling away, which is always a good thing. I especially like that super small parts like e-clips and pins are kept in place, since those types of parts can be easy to lose if you’re not careful. I can’t even count how many times I’ve lost an e-clip simply because it slipped off my work surface onto the floor.

The magnetic mat goes a long way in giving the user peace of mind. Dropping parts and tools onto the mat did not mar or damage the heavy-duty vinyl surface, which is really nice to see from a product that will see lots of use over time.

Cleaning the mat after some work was also extremely easy. I just sprayed a bit of green cleaner on a towel and wiped the mat clean, good as new.
