Cactus Classic: Under the Hood of TLR’s Dakotah Phend’s New 22T 2.0

The TLR factory drivers are all piloting the new 22T 2.o at the Cactus Classic and the stadium trucks are looking impressive with good corner speed and stable handling. I was able to get a sneak peak under the hood of TLR’s Dakotah Phend’s new 22T 2.0 that should be available for sale very soon. The stadium truck incorporates the new features seen in the 22 2.0 2WD buggy including the new steering bellcranks, steering spindles and carriers along with the other rear end changes. For battery power, Dakotah uses the Orion 4500 Carbon Pro shorty pack and surrounds it with foam for proper spacing. He also chooses to put his Orion speed control up on top of the battery strap instead of trying to get creative and strategically position it somewhere down on the chassis. He has tried it down on the chassis, but prefers how the weight of the speed control feels up high as it relates to handling. At the back of the truck, he uses a 35g brass forward hingepin block to help settle the truck down. For suspension he uses 2-hole, 1.6mm pistons all around with TLR 35w with low-frequency silver springs at the front and 32w at the rear paired up with standard yellow springs. Rear toe is 3 degrees and anti-squat is fairly standard at 2. For kick-up he uses 30 degrees with 0 degrees in the caster blocks, but other drivers like Ryan Maifield prefer to run 25 degrees of kick-up and 5 degrees of caster. The rest of the truck is fairly straight-forward.
