Cactus Classic: Tessmann TQ’s 2WD Buggy, Cavalieri TQ’s Truck

The Factory drivers have one more round to decide their qualifying fate.

With one round of qualifying to go, the Cactus Classic’s heavy hitters are scrabbling to find the points to move up in qualifying in the premier classes. A points- based system determines qualifying positions instead of the “rocket round” format. In 2WD Buggy, HPI/Hot Bodies’ Ty Tessmann has wrapped up the TQ position by taking the first three qualifiers and eliminating any chance of another driver leapfrogging him in the final qualifier running this evening. His prototype buggy is fast and although he’s known more for his 4WD skill, Ty has secured the spot up top in the changing track conditions. In Modified Stadium Truck it is Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri driving the new T5M who has locked down TQ. In 4WD buggy things aren’t so clear cut, with Kyosho’s Jared Tebo and TLR’s Dakotah Phend both tied on points with a win and second for both drivers.
