Axial Yeti XL Now Available In Kit Form

Axial Yeti XL Now Available In Kit Form

That’s right, the Axial Yeti XL monster buggy is now available as a kit, which means you get to put it together yourself. That also means that you can install the electronics of your choice and give the body you own custom paint job. But that’s not all of the good news. Axial includes some of the most popular option parts in the box to give this version increased durability and better performance. Some of those items include lower link plates, turnbuckles, Icon Vehicle Dynamics threaded aluminum Big Bore 16 shocks and Falken WildPeak M/T replica tires. I’m really happy to see that they have included a long travel sway bar with the kit. This is something that is not included with the ready to run version and it really needs it as mentioned in my review in the Febuary 2015 issue of Radio Control Car Action magazine. The sway bar will greatly reduce chassis twist and make the buggy more driveable.  The independent front and solid axle rear buggy is powered by two LiPo battery packs and accepts any standard 1/8-scale brushless system.

Axial Yeti XL Kit 1

Falken WildPeak M/T replica replace tires and black wheels replace the RTR version’s BF Goodrich Krawler T/A tires and chrome wheels.

Axial Yeti XL Kit 2

An independent front suspension and solid axle rear soaks up the bumps and the batteries are housed on the sides of the molded plastic chassis. The kit version includes a scale fuel cell that can be used as a weight box or to store additional electronics.

Axial Yeti XL Kit 3

Aluminum lower-link braces are new for the kit Yeti XL and stiffen up the plastic links. The long travel rear sway bar is a welcome addition and it keeps the chassis flat during hard launches and in turns. Icon Vehicle Dynamics replica threaded aluminum Big Bore 16 shocks are included in the kit. They have been updated with a silver finish and dual springs.

Axial Yeti XL Kit 4

A 1/8-scale power system and two LiPo batteries are going to put a lot of power through the drivetrain. A steel spur gear and dual disc slipper clutch are ready for 6S action. This is the same setup that you’ll find on the RTR.

Axial Yeti XL Kit 5

Once assembled, the Axial Yeti XL monster buggy is ready to tear up the dirt.
