Axial Wraith/RC4WD Blazer hybrid [READER’S RIDE]

Axial Wraith/RC4WD Blazer hybrid [READER’S RIDE]

Hawaii’s RC “artist in residence” Dan Boyle is at it again with another killer custom project. This time he mated RC4WD’s excellent Blazer hard body with his favored Axial Wraith frame, then stuffed a bunch of Traxxas running gear in it to build this fantastic scale rig. Dan grabbed a set of RC Channel metal axles, which he believes are the most scale-looking. He chose the the models for the SCX because they are narrower and look more realistic. He worked his usual magic in the engine compartment, mocking up a scale V8 with a tunnel ram manifold and a pair of big Holley carbs. Headers are copper wire with brass collectors. Then he piped in V8 sounds courtesy of Traxxas’ audio system. He spent considerable time realistically weathering the body, and he installed jeweler’s chain onto the opening tailgate. He even fabricated open wing windows. The dash has detailed lights behind the gauges. Another great piece of work Dan!
