Axial Wraith Mad Max Custom by Dan Boyle [Reader’s Ride]

Axial Wraith Mad Max Custom by Dan Boyle [Reader’s Ride]

This summer’s high-octane reboot of the cinematic ode to automotive mayhem Mad Max: Fury Road inspired us to showcase some RC road warriors back in in our July issue, and we’ve been receiving mad creations from you guys ever since. With the Bluray just hitting the shelves this month, we figured that was a good enough excuse to show you another. One of the coolest was from Dan Boyle, whose Axial-based customs have graced the pages of Reader’s Rides more than once, and he’s back at it with this beast. Dan started with a Wraith frame and added SCX axles for a more scale look. Then he decked out his supercharged V8 with headers made from heavy-gauge copper wire. The proper patina was achieved with a layer of liquid-iron paint, followed by several layers of liquid rust solution, then came hours upon hours of fine detailing. The result is a very convincing Max-esque machine.
