There’s a lot to see at this year’s IFMAR EP Worlds held at Yatabe Arena in Japan. With the event run on astroturf for the first time, many drivers, especially drivers from the United States are running very unusual set-ups and modifications to their buggies. However, talent can often overcome inexperience and the big names are rising to the occasion and finding the speed needed to put in fast runs. Check it out (photos provided by RedRC.net).
- Jared Tebo’s front motor Kyosho. The 2013 IFMAR 2WD Champion has been laying down some blistering runs and looks poised to make a bid for the Championship again.
- Ryan Maifield and the rest of the TLR Factory Drivers showed up at the event with a new buggy with a transmission laid down and forward. Maifield is also using JConcepts new body specifically designed for high-bite conditions.
- Ryan Cavalieir is adapting to the conditions and is right in the mix with the fastest drivers. He’s already won five ROAR Nationals this year and is hoping to continue with another dominating performance.
- Jared Tebo showed up to the event with 2 buggies, but has been sticking with his front motor buggy.
- Spencer Rivkin has been making waves with his driving at the event and showing everyone that he is a force to be reckoned with for years to come.
- Dakotah Phend has ben showing great speed with his prototype TLR buggy, but a few crashes have affected his overall results.
- Naoto Matsukura was a heavy favorite coming in to the event, but his consistency hasn’t been where it needs to be and his crashes have kept him from top of the leader boards.
- Kyosho’s Jared Tebo has a ton of confidence and is showing the speed needed to challenge for the TQ spot.
- 2013 IFMAR 4WD Champion Steven Hartson is another Team Associated driver using a protoype B5M buggy with laid down transmission and JConcepts body.
- Neil Cragg has been impressive and topped Round 2 of Qualifying
- Mechanics and Team Managers prepare to place buggies on the track for qualifying.
- Schumacher Team Driver Michal Orlowski from Poland has been putting in impressive runs and showing incredible speed.
- World’s Warm-Up winner Lee Martin hasn’t been quite as fast as expected, but still a serious threat.
- Spencer Rivkin has had the raw speed in the last couple of years, but finally found his consistency needed to put down great 5-minute runs.

- Jorn Neumann is finally showing the speed needed to make the a-mains, but it could be a little too late for the German Ace, having posted runs too low down in the early rounds.
- Kody Numedahl was runnr-up at the warm-up event, but is just a tick off the pace of the elite drivers.
- Australia’s Kyle McBride proving his talents run deeper than just nitro buggies.
- Naoto Matsukura posted a 5th place result in Round 2 of qualifying, but his lack of consistency could keep him from progressing further.
- TLR’s Dustin Evans has the driving style that seemed perfectly suited for astrotruf, but hasn’t been able to find the speed to move him higher up.
- TLR’s Ryan Maifield has been fast and even went 2nd fastest in round 2, but needs to put in another good qualifier.
- XRAY Factory Team Driver Martin Bayer is known for his skills on Astrotruf, but is still looking to put down some better runs at the event.
- Cavalieri is adapting to the conditions and is right in the mix with the Top 5 elite drivers.
- Newly signed Yokomo Factory Team Driver Carson Wernimont is showing great speed at the event, but may not have strong enough results to make the coveted triple a-mains.
