1/8-Scale Buggies on Astro-Turf?

Astro-turf may be the hot trend in 1/10-scale electric off-road racing, but how about using 1/8-scale buggies? That’s right, big, powerful 4WD buggies are turned loose on this outdoor track and battle it out on the grippy, high-traction surface. If you listen closely, you can also hear nitro engines fired up in the background, giving us a tease that they too take to the artificial turf. The reality is that there are places where dirt and natural terrain just won’t hold up to Mother Nature, and some improvising is needed.

  1. Astro-turf is for the rich and lazy track owner. Get a shovel. Astro-turf is for those drivers whom are not in tune with their platform and have no throttle control. I understand why the track owner would do this, in the long run it is way easier for them to maintain, however it is not off road unless it is in the dirt end of discussion. Seeing how they obviously don’t want the track conditions to change through the day or even the race season they should put a roof over it and cover their shame! And yes I own, operate and maintenance a real dirt 1/2 acre off road track, running 1/10 and 1/8 scale It is work but worth it.

  2. need a lil’ more control
