If you think you’re going to find a bunch of custom or prototype parts under the hood of Tessmann’s rocket rides, you would be wrong. Other than a couple hop-up parts, Ty Tessmann is running stock vehicles you can buy at your local hobby shop today. What is not included in the box is world class driving talent and a top notch pit crew. What you do get though are a couple of lethal track weapons that can easily take you to the top of the podium whenever you’re ready.
Hot Bodies DT8 Ty Tessmann Edition
If you caught our review of this truggy in the May issue of RC Car Action, you would have read nothing but positive reviews of this rig. In pretty much stock configuration, Ty did add Avid carbon fiber plate suspension arm stiffeners. Powered by an O.S. Speed 21xz-B Speed Spec 2 (VP Racing Powermaster fuel), Savox servos, Airtronics M12 radio and using Proline tires.
- Ty uses Avid suspension arm stiffeners to eliminate any twist or flex in the arms.
- Chassis wear and tear is actually not that bad.
- The thick from shock tower keeps everything stiff letting the suspension do its work.
- The Proline Trifecta lexan wing helps keep the rear end planted
HB D815 Tessmann Worlds Edition
Powered by an O.S. Speed B2101 Ty Tessmann Edition (VP Racing Powermaster fuel), again Ty kept this buggy mostly in stock configuration. Using the same Savox servos, Airtronics M12 radio and Proline tires package, there are a few small details that set Ty’s car apart from the others.
- Talk about a weight saver. Ty used milled out and hallowed steel screws throughout the bottom of the car to help it get close to minimum weight.
- Avid carbon fiber arm stiffeners (on the top side) where also used on the front and rear suspension arms.
Both cars were definitely on fire on the track.
