Speed Passion 1/18-Scale 7800kV Brushless System

RCCARACTION Default Image

New from Speed Passion comes a 1/18-scale speed control and brushless motor combo to suit everyone’s needs. Combos include a brushless speed control capable of 20 amps continuous current (100 amp bursts), with a 7800, 6900 or 5200kV motor.

Included in the box you’ll find the speed control, motor, programming card and even some double-sided tape for mounting, and heat shrink if you decide to change the connectors (mini Tamiya-style plugs are already connected). The programming card is fantastic; it gives you unlimited control over the speed control with settings such as drag brake, low voltage cutoff for LiPos, start-up power, braking force and plenty more options. Using the card is a breeze, just plug the speed control’s receiver plug into the card, power up the system and use the easy to navigate menu to program your settings.

I charged up some NiMH packs and tested out the 7800kV system in one of my mini trucks I had laying around. I was immediately happy with how smoothly the system ran. Even with ordinary NiMH packs, there was no cogging whatsoever. In fact, this is one of the smoothest sensorless 1/18-scale systems I’ve run. I ran the truck with the stock gearing and after five minutes, the motor was not even warm and I could hold my finger on the motor indefinitely.  When I was done bashing around, the motor was still at ambient temperature. The stock settings were great and all I had to do was calibrate the endpoints and I was on my way.
