Scotty Ernst of S&N Trackside Hobbies in Brookfield Wisconsin (outside Milwaukee) called on his friends in the RC industry to help put on the largest short course race in the country. Several top pro drivers including Kyosho’s Jared Tebo, Associated’s Scott Brown, and Traxxas’ Steve Slayden made the trip to Wisconsin for this huge SC race. There are well over 200 entries for the inaugural event Short Course Showdown. If you don’t know Scotty, he is our industry’s best race announcer. He knows how to call the action better than anyone!

The racing is held indoors on a high-bite clay track that is on the small side. Lap times are in the 13-15 second range. Although small and tight the track is a blast to drive. I know because I’m racing in the Stock SC class and in the 4X4 class. The challenge is to work your way through traffic without getting ruined. Check in frequently as I’ll be posting photos throughout the weekend.

This race has been Awesome. It’s been run flawlessly! The program has gone on without a hitch with the races running on right after the other. It’s been great to here Scotty’s voice over the speakers. Hundreds of spectators have come in to Tracskide Hobbies to check out the racing action. Several new racers are competing in their first ever “big” off-road race, which is great for our hobby. The Short Course Showdown was such a huge hit that the racers are already talking about next year.

The A-mains will be taking place in an hour or two. I’ll post photos and results right here. Also look out for videos, as I’ve shot dozens of videos with the pros, new products, and of this great facility.

Well, I just bumped from the C-main to the B-Main in Stock Short Course. The class has been extremely competitive this weekend. There were 81 drivers in the Stock class. I never was able to put in a clean run and qualified 15th overall. There are only 6 in each main event with bump ups. Hopefully I can do it again.

I race later in the 4X4 class. I made the show in that class and qualified 6th overall.

I had another successful main event and bumped from the B-main in the A-main, where I took 4th. I had a lot of fun racing in the stock class. It’s been years since I raced “stock”.

I would like to thank Bob Novak for his help with the new Kinetic ESC. It and my 17.5-turn Ballistic motor were ballistic!

Kyosho/Team Orion’s Jared Tebo grabbed the big win in Modified SC. His truck and drive were next level. Tebo used AKA’s new Wishbone SC tires in super soft. His truck and driving were so good I don’t think he could have gone faster with his RT5 stadium truck.
