Scott Lempert, of Commerce Township, MI, was reluctant to cut-up a brand new Blazer body, but when he got the itch to make his Vaterra Ascender “topless and caged… like the old days,” he simply couldn’t resist. One look at this killer entry and it is immediately apparent that this customized body is a resounding success. Scott used 3/16” steel brake lines to create the brazed cage that surrounds the truck, and he painstakingly made a custom Styrene interior and fabricated a detailed dash and homemade seats and seatbelts. Of course, this K5 isn’t just for show. Scott enlists the help of a Holmes Hobbies 13T Crawlmaster Expert motor that is controlled by a Castle Creations SV3 speed controller, and a high-voltage 3S LiPo battery pack.
