ROAR Mod Nats: Truhe 2WD, Tebo Truck, Hodapp steals 4WD with X-5

Mike Truhe won the first two A-Mains to score the 2WD title for Trinity/Team Losi, while Associated/Checkpoint's Jared Tebo took the win in Truck. In 4WD, Greg Hodapp stole the win from TQ Ryan Maifield and wheeled his Peak-powered X-5 conversion (it's basically a single-belt Double-X4) into the winner's circle. Talk about it here.

Silver State: Tebo Doubles!

Silver State: Tebo Doubles!

Team Associated and Kyosho ace Jared Tebo won both Pro classes at the Silver State Nitro challenge. The Kid started second for the main event in the 1/10 Pro class, battled early with The Drake, and eventually settled his O’Donnell-powered Factory Team GT into the lead. Trinity's hard-charging Ryan Cavalieri dueled with Tebo in the back half of the race, often looking faster. The two must have swapped spots a dozen times, and it was an edge-of-your-seat thriller as Tebo got a better run down the nasty, rutted back straight on the last lap to sneak by for a 1.1 second victory over Pudge. Click "More" for 1/8 action.

In 1/8, Tebo had troubles during qualifying and was forced to bump up from the B-main. He won the B for a 12th place spot on the A-main grid. Early on, it looked as TQ Mark Pavidis would check out and win, but an early flame out forced him pack in the pack. Tebo sliced and carved through the field with surgical precision as he picked off the other racers. As the clock wound down, Cavalieri was up in second and closing the gap, but it wasn’t enough to catch The Kid.
Peak Racing Powers Pavidis

Peak Racing Powers Pavidis

Longtime Associated driver Mark Pavidis made news when he announced he would run exclusively for Team Kyosho earlier this year, and now he's made a power switch as well. For 2005, Mark will be running Peak Racing Vantage modified motors and PowerFlo Voltage Enhanced batteries in all his electric Kyosho machines, and Blitz 1400 receiver packs in his nitro rides. Looks like Mark also scored a sweet sweatshirt and hat outta the deal too.

Team Corally's Chris Tosolini gives a victory salute (and a great plug for Airtronics) after winning Touring Mod at the ROAR Carpet Nats, held at West Haven CT's Hobby Chamber. The event also saw victories for Team Trinity/XRAY's Mike Dumas in 19T Touring, and the first-ever win for a brushless system at a ROAR nats as Team Associated's Jon Orr won 1/12 Mod using an LRP Sphere and Reedy NEO-1 brushless combo.

Team Associated RC18T Spy Shots!!!

Team Associated RC18T Spy Shots!!!

We uncovered a major secret during a routine visit with Team Associated recently. Tucked away in a partially opened cabinet, we couldn’t help but notice a suspicious little truck with a mini T4 body. Apparently someone left the cabinet open and before the engineers could wrestle us to the ground, we snapped off a couple of pictures it.

For more information and pictures, please visit the Radio Control Zone forums. They may not be the greatest shots, but you’re looking at a prototype of the A-Team’s new RC18T mini truck. Look closely and you’ll notice the aluminum propeller shaft running down the center of the chassis. Yes the truck is 4WD and it will also include oil-filled shocks, front and rear diffs and it’s compatible with the many wheels and tires designed for the Losi Mini-T. The chassis has room to install a six cell flat pack on the left side of the chassis and the motor, ESC, receiver and steering servo are mounted on the right.

According to Associated, an RC18T RTR is already in the works and they might even release a kit version. LRP is working on a special ESC and motor for the RTR version, but the truck is designed to use the current crop of motors, batteries and other micro electronics. Keep checking back, because we’ll have better shots of the RC18T soon.
