LRP and Reedy going brushless?

LRP and Reedy going brushless?

During the RCX show in SoCal, we caught Mike Reedy and Jurgen Lautenbach of LRP at Team Associated's Costa Mesa headquarters discussing a 'classified' project. We don't have any details at this time, and the unit was quickly put under wraps, but it looks like some sort of brushless motor project is in the works! We'll keep you posted with any future developments.

RC Pro Series Finals: big wins for Taylor James, controversy in Unlimited Monster

RC Pro Series Finals: big wins for Taylor James, controversy in Unlimited Monster

Sun Valley Speedway, Sun Valley, CA: Team Associated/Thunder Tiger's Taylor James won the Pro 1/10 and Pro 1/8 classes at the RC Pro Finals. In Pro 1/8, Jammin' drivers Chad Bradley and Adam Drake were one and two, but Bradley’s receiver pack came unplugged giving the lead to Drake... Drake led for a while until a drivetrain malfunction took him out, handing the lead to Taylor, who finished with a comfortable lead over second-place finisher Marty Korn of GS Racing and Ho Bao's Greg Degani in third. Bradley battled with Mugen’s Bobby Tillman in an Unlimited Monster Truck show stopper that came down to the last lap.Bradley crashed in front of pit row and fellow Jammin' driver Dean Sexton. Dean, who was pitting for Jay Halsey at the time, jumped out and marshaled Bradley’s truck just as Tillman was passing for the lead. Tillman made an aggressive move to the inside on the next turn and had to be marshaled, giving Bradley the win. Mugen protested the win because Sexton was not a marshal or Bradley’s pit man, but Bradley was not docked and retained the win.

Spec Tires for Mod Nats?

Spec Tires for Mod Nats?

Yes and no. The Associated, Losi, Kyosho, Proline, X-5 and Peak/Orion teams have agreed to run spec tires, but you can run whatever you like (according to race host RC Madness).
Click here for the official announcement at the RC Zone.

From the Team Losi site: "In 2005 ROAR announced that it would discontinue the spec tire rule for the Electric Offroad Nationals. In an effort to control costs and insure a level playing field, Team Associated, Team Losi, Kyosho, Proline, X-5 and Peak/Orion have agreed to compete at this event hosted by RC Madness in Enfield, CT with a spec tire and insert. Also, following in the footsteps of the recent IFMAR ruling, tire additives will not be used by the teams at this event."

"The driving force behind this unprecedented decision is the cost associated with attending an event of this magnitude. Now the average racer can show up to the event with one type of tire and be assured they will compete against the best without a disadvantage in tire tread, compound or insert."

The mutually agreed upon tires will use the packaged inserts and are:
2wd Front: Open
Rear: Proline 8184-02 (M3 Holeshots)

4wd Front: Losi 7282R (Red Blockheads)
Rear: Losi 7369R (Red X-2000)

Truck Front: Losi 7505R (Red Directionals)
Rear: Proline 8192-01 (M3 Holeshots)

Other winners of the weekend included Rich Johnson (SMC 1/10 Stadium Truck), Zack Barry (Novice), Jeff Wineholt (Castle Creations 4WD brushless), Tim Mohr (Castle Creations 2WD Brushless and DuraTrax Mini Monster), and Neil Dickey (Race Prep E-Maxx). Good racin’ guys, and a big thanks to RC Madness’ Chris Marcy and Team Associated for putting the race together.
