Tosolini, Cyrul Score At ROAR Carpet Nats

Dec 01, 2006 No Comments

Chris Tosolini drove his SMC-powered, Fantom-motor Yokomo into the 1/10 Sedan Modified winner’s circle at the ROAR On-Road Carpet Nationals. Chris TQ’d the class, ripping up Ripon Speedways Ozite with a blistering 24/5:11.45 run, but only won one of the triple A-Mains (Trinity’s Paul Lemieux and Associated’s Mike Dumas won the other rounds). But it’s all about the points, and Tos had ‘em.

Trinity’s Josh Cyrul was the big winner in 1/12 Mod, besting Barry Baker and Mike Blackstock. Josh went into the Mains as top-qualifier with 41/8:07.73, and sat out the third main after winning the first two.

In the Nats other classes, Travis Schreven won Stock Touring, TJ Bradley took down the win in 1/12 4-cell stock with SMC power, and David Lee won the 1/12 Masters race, also with SMC cells.

Monster X = Mad Force APRIL 2002

Dec 01, 2006 No Comments

Since Kyosho didn’t have a name for it’s new .21-powered truck when we spotted it at the Nuremberg hobby show (Inside Scoop, May 2002) and drove it in the June edition of our sister mag RC Nitro (see it in action; here’s the video), we’ve been calling it “Monster X”. The truck is nameless no more; now officially dubbed “Mad Force”, the innovative machine should be entering production as you read this. One thing is for sure: you can forget comparing the Mad Force to any other truck you’ve seen, Kyosho or otherwise. With its 3-speed tranny, chain drive, torsion-link suspension, and tubular axle housings, the Mad Force is a completely original vision of a 21st-century monster machine.
