Old School Style Racing is Under Way at the Reedy Outdoor Off-Road Race of Champions

The 2015 Reedy Outdoor Off-Road Race of Champions is under way at Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus, California. Promising old school style racing with dirt that actually moves, the race is being held on the famous track with only water added- no sugar, no leaf blower, no misting system, nada. However, as in the past there is a line that is developing and the dirt is packing down. But, don’t be mislead, there’s still plenty of wheel spin and sliding going on.

Out on the track, the layout is providing a flowing line with plenty of features for everyone without being too technical or unreasonable.  The biggest challenge for the mod drivers seems to be the series of jumps along the back wall that can be done by tripling. However, with a short run up and a quick turn and step down after the landing, carnage is ruling. Overall drivers seem to be happy with the layout.

The layout is challenging with good flow and features. There is a grooved up line, but vehicles still have to roll the throttle to control wheel spin and sliding.

A lot of factory drivers are here to do battle in the old school style conditions. Team Associated's Steven Hartson negotiates the off-camber turn.
