Buying all the trick gear and aluminum doodads in the world will most likely never compensate for driving ability, but for many of us it’s what makes the RC world go around. Where would we be if not for the high-tech gadgetry that we all know and love right? Just like the modern day smartphone, I think you’ll agree that while we don’t really have to have these types of RC accessories, we simply couldn’t imagine a day at the track without them and wonder how we ever did it before they existed. To the average racer they may seem unnecessary and in a lot of cases they’re things for show, but when it comes down to the fine detail, it’s tools like those that can give you the leading edge over the guy next to you. Specialty tools have a special place in my heart and even a bad day of racing is brightened by the occasional passer by that spots something cool in my pit box. With that said, here is my list of seven tools I couldn’t live without. Some are older and some are new, but the bottom line is they may be things that you either forgot all about or never knew existed that will improve your performance on the track as well as make you look like an RC superstar in the pits.

About the authorAssociate Editor I can say that I’ve never done ANYTHING as long as I’ve been into RC. I got my first car when I was 11 and never looked back. Since then I’ve owned hundreds of cars and trucks and raced everything from Off-Road to Boats but I’m an Oval racer at heart. Whether I’m down siding a jump or going fast and turning left, it’s all on and my foot is to the floor! I love seeing new people discover our hobby and helping anyone I can enjoy it more. When I’m not racing or writing, I like to restore vintage RC cars and organize the Vintage Offroad Nationals. I’m also a dad and enjoy teaching my son how to drive and watching him get into this hobby on his own.
