Bill Barber has been in the hobby since he was a kid, but this Losi Baja Rey conversion is his first swing at a caged trophy truck. He upgraded the upper and lower front arms with pieces from Metal Concepts RC. For a body Bill chose Pro-Line’s SCORE Raptor made for the Axial Yeti. He prefers the Losi setup for its aluminum chassis, the drivetrain, and more scale cage. Since the Yeti wheelbase is shorter he had to shorten up the rear trailing arms by almost an inch, and he swapped on a set of shorter Axial Wraith rear upper links to restore proper geometry. He TIG-welded together his own metal cage out of 3/16 cold-rolled steel rod and then coated it in ‘Steel-It’ which is essentially powder-coat in a rattle can. He then skinned the cage with panels made from 1/16 Lexan. The lightbar is from Gearhead RC, and other scale accessories came from RPP Hobby.
