HPI just announced a new addition to their lineup of officially licensed Ken Block cars, joining the Micro RS4 and 1/8 scale brushless WR8 Flux versions. The latest Hoonigan ride is also 1/8 scale and built on the shaft-driven WR8 3.0 4WD platform and powered by a Nitro Star G3.0 HO engine. The car is based on the Bullet ST, which should make this machine ideal for duplicating the tire-scorching hooning action KB is known for. Fingers crossed for one of HPI’s “replica videos” to go along with this release.

Plastic shocks and a painted pipe will trim a few bucks without cutting into the fun factor. No Roto-Start for this guy, you have to pull the string.

Remember when HPI was all about purple ano? Now it’s orange. Note the linkages on both sides of the throttle/brake servo. The WR8 3.0 chassis has dual brakes and a center diff, so you can set brake bias. Go for a rear bias and get your drift on.

The WR8 3.0 uses the same tough bevel gear differentials, twin disc brakes and fully ball bearing-supported 4WD shaft drivetrain of the Bullet nitro truck, but adds the Nitro Star G3.0 High Output engine, a racing-style clutch, WR8 rally-style suspension geometry, custom-designed shock towers and dampers and extra-thick sway bars for extra control! Top it off with tarmac rally tires and bright blue Speedline wheels and you’ve got an instant head-turner in your hands!
The WR8 3.0 kit is completely pre-built, just like all RTR (Ready To Run) kits from HPI Racing. There are a few supplies you’ll need, which your HPI retailer will be happy to provide: fuel, a fuel bottle and a glow plug igniter with battery. Enough AA alkaline HPI Plazma batteries are included with the kit to power the hassle-free 2.4GHz radio system.
