Fun Size Meets Full Size! RC at the 2013 Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo

The idea for the first radio controlled cars was born of appreciation for full-size vehicles, and the spirit of of every RC released since pays homage to the passenger vehicles and pickup trucks that haul cargo, and people, along roadways around the world. The two industries parallel each other in many ways, not the least of which is the typical gearhead’s insatiable desire to keep building and tinkering with a vehicle to improve its performance, personalize its appearance, and stand out from the crowd. Over the weekend of October 5-6 tens of thousands of automobile enthusiasts swarmed the Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo at the Pomona Fairplex where, just like RC brands do at our annual RCX show, full-size manufacturers showed off their latest products by installing them onto wild project builds that would make even the most detail-focused RC builder swoon. MORE THAN 65,000 OFF-ROAD FANS ENJOYED WEEKEND OF OFF-ROAD FUN AT 2013 LUCAS OIL OFF-ROAD EXPO POWERED BY GENERAL TIRE

Pomona, Calif. – (October 11, 2013) More than 65,000 off-road enthusiasts filled the Pomona Fairplex to check out everything off-road from 300-plus vendors including new vehicles, thousands of parts and accessories, racing demos and more, at the 2013 Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo powered by General Tire. In addition to the line-up of trucks, Jeeps, UTVs, ATVs, side-by-sides, dirt bikes, sand rails, rock crawlers, parts and accessories on display, the expo entertained attendees with exciting features including: ULTRA 4 / King of the Hammers demos; Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing demos; autograph signings with dozens of off-road racing legends; live entertainment; and more.

For the first time ever, Family Events, in partnership with the Off Road Business Association (ORBA), offered a “Lunch with the Legends” VIP Experience Package, which included a private lunch with some of the biggest names in the sport including Brian Deegan, Casey Currie, Ivan Stewart, Shannon Campbell, Walker Evans and Johnny Greaves, all access entry into the expo both days, VIP parking and more.
“We were thrilled with the response to the VIP Experience Package and are so grateful to the off-road legends that attended,” said Fred Wiley, President of ORBA. “VIP participants enjoyed the up-close and personal lunch with top off-road legends and we raised more than $2,100 for ORBA, a national non-profit trade association of motorized off-road related businesses formed to promote and preserve off-road recreation.”

On Saturday, the crowds gathered at the Bud Light Entertainment Stage to watch dozens of beautiful bikini-clad women compete in the Miss Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo Bikini Contest. Candace Cordera, was crowned the 2013 Miss Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo, with Amanda Cinq-Mars taking second place and Neva Moore third place.

“Off-Road Expo has been a staple event in our calendar for years, and this year’s event seemed exceptionally well attended with qualified customers attending the event looking to buy parts and accessories for their personal off road vehicles,” said Greg Adler, CEO of 4-Wheel Parts. “We’ve been committed to Off-Road Expo as a vendor and sponsor for several years and have seen tremendous growth on the customer base attending the event and the vendor footprint indoors and outdoors.
