Tamiya is returning to its super-scale truck roots with this new solid-axle Ford. Leaf-spring suspension and full-time 4WD are promised, and a Multifunction sound/light unit is slated for the truck. Team Losi’s Travis Amezcua TQ’d the RC Pro Series East Race this past weekend with the still-in-development Losi Eight. The win also went to the Eight, but not with Travis behind the wheel; Adam drake took that honor. Reliable sources not affiliated with Team Losi said the buggy was unbelievable at the Farm 2 in North Carolina, which will host the ROAR 1/8-scale Nationals in July. Will it be the Eight’s first Nats win?
Yannick Aigon, TQ driver at the most recent IFMAR 1/8 Off-Road World Championship, has joined RB Products in the R&D department. Yannick will also drive the XRAY XB8 in France to strengthen the XRAY French team. XRAY will work very hard on further improvement and development, and with world class top drivers like Aigon and other running XRAY, it will certainly help to speed up the evolution of the car.
Over 200 racers attended the 2006 Pro-Line Nitro Maxx Challenge and the competition was fierce in all 5 racing classes. Team Associated/Kyosho factory driver Ryan Cavalieri finished first in both the 1/10 Gas Truck and 1/8 Buggy classes, but they achievement didnt come easy; he snuck past OFNA/Jammin driver Chad Bradley on the last lap of the Buggy A-main and finished on the same lap as Cody King in Gas Truck. Bradley TQd the Outlaw Class and his teammate Taylor James scored the first place finish. Mike Battaile won the Small Block class with his Traxxas Revo and Kenny Johnson came out on top of the Big Block class with his Associated Monster GT. See more pics and talk about it here.
Tamiya USA’s beautiful Aliso Viejo facility once again hosted the Reedy Touring Car Race of Champions, and Tamiya’s own Marc Rheinard tore the place up to win the Invitational Class with his Orion-powered 415MSX. It’s just one more win for the seemingly unstoppable Rheinard, as he steamrolls his way to the Worlds. More info and pics tomorrow–this shot is actually from the Worlds Warmup!
