2WD buggies are continuing their evolution at a staggering rate and a big part of the innovation is the incorporation of laydown transmissions. Whether you choose a new factory conversion, a purpose-built buggy, or a 3D-printed aftermarket tuning option, there’s a lot of ways to jump on board. Most were initially developed for carpet or Astro-turf, and like them or not, they are here to stay and will most likely continue to grow in popularity. The Team Associated B6 is a dedicated laydown transmission buggy dedicated to high-bite surfaces.
TLR opted to release a laydown conversion to their current 22 3.0 buggy, instead of releasing an entire kit.
Tuning company Exotek has their own limited edition conversion kit for the TLR 22 3.0 with an aluminum transmission case.
AC rc gear designed a 3D printed case and “waterfall” for use with the Team Associated B5M.
The WWHD laydown conversion for the B5M uses delrin parts and carbon fiber rear shock tower and motor plate. Designed by legendary Arizona stock racer, Jeff “Humpty” Helms.
The Anders Lind Worlds conversion for the Team Associated B5M. It too is 3D printed and was one of the original laydown conversions.
The Xray XB2 “Carpet Edition” is a kit with a specific purpose.
The Yokomo YZ-2 is another buggy kit with a laydown transmission.
