From Serpent:

The Serpent Cobra GT is the most popular brand in GT racing and its performance  is proven by many big race wins in the highly competitive race scene for GT’s in America.  The Cobra GT 3.0 is the latest development stage of the Cobra GT platform, which is running successfully for over 5 year with very small changes only.  Below we show the key updates to the GT to continue its strong performance  and famous durability.

The Cobra GTE is a combined design effort by Billy Easton and Michael Salven, in cooperation with our USA team-drivers Desoto and Morganti.

Main new features:

  • New front and front rear aluminum suspension holders
  • New Alu c-hubs in 6 degree version
  • New aluminum, uprights for new rear geometry
  • New alu shock absorber risers front and rear
  • New 4.5mm carbon shock towers front and rear

Explaining the new features

New front and front rear aluminum suspension holders
These are designed to change the pivot pin angle, so the lower wishbones will be more straight, which geometry suits on road racing better.

New Alu c-hubs in 6 degree version

The new alu c-hubs are needed to make maximum use of the new pivot pin / wishbone angle.  CNC-machined from 7075 T6 aluminum, laser engraved  and black anodized units.

New aluminum, uprights for new rear geometry

To allow a better onboard geometry we designed these new CNC machined aluminum uprights, black anodized and laser engraved.

  • New alu shock absorber risers front and rear
  • New alu shock towers front and rear

The durable machined alu shock-risers front and rear allow for a more on road aimed angle of the shock absorber creating more overall grip and more predictable cornering.  The new 4.5mm lower carbon fiber shock towers also accommodate the new shock angles, with a choice of 5 holes for further fine-tuning.

Overall features / specs

Chassis plate

Chassis plate in  3mm  7075 T6 aluminum , with machined pockets to create flex and or make lighter. Kick-up angle on front as need due to the race-rules. Countersunk holes. Slots to locate the  front and rear suspension mounts precisely.  Angled sides to increase stiffness  Laser engraved Cobra GT logo.

Bumper
Captured foam bumper set, with wide foam bumper and strong upper and lower bumper-plate.

Chassis stiffeners

Composite  stiffener front and rear, to give extra stiffness, but still allow some flex as needed.

Radio-box

Composite radio box which offers space for the up-right steering-servo, the receiver and  sufficient space for the speed-controller.  The whole assembly including linkages can be taken off easily and fast in one go, when cleaning the car, or doing maintenance.

The main eye catchers are the extremely low laydown longitudinal placed battery-packs at each side of the car, being part of the side-guards, securely fastened with a flip-lid, for easy and fast battery changes. The weight low in the car and in the right position, well balanced. The Lipo holders comply with ROAR legal packs / dimensions.

Servo arms and linkages

The servo arms have a splined insert to have the right fit per brand. The linkages runs very clean and tight and are easy to access to modify settings.

Suspension brackets

Beautifully machined  7075 T6  suspension brackets in anodized, laser engraved. Precision fit for the nylon roll center inserts  and pivot balls / pins.  The GT 3.0 front suspension brackets make the pivot-pin and lower arm more horizontal, which improves handling and steering.

Steering blocks assembly

Composite steering blocks combined with 10 dgr C-hubs  for precise steering. Spring steel wheel-axles with large size bearings 8x18x5 and 15x21x4   with precision threaded aluminum wheel-hubs with +3 offset. Flanged wheel nuts to guarantee that you will not lose a wheel nut in a race.

Front suspension

Durable oversized  lower suspension arms in strong composite nylon. On the lower side the special down stops screws are mounted. The lower shock-mounting pins are secured with a small grubscrew from the bottom.

Front anti-roll bar

The ballraced front anti-roll bar  system, consist of a spring steel bend wire, which is guided through the diff-cases and run in ballraced steel adaptors.  The wire is linked to the lower suspension arm, with a captured adjustable threaded pivot ball, for very precise and low friction  operation.

Shock tower and body mounts front / alu shock-risers

new 4.5mm thick carbon shock tower with 5 upper positioning holes for the shocks and 6 holes for roll-center positions.  1 centrally located adjustable body mount , and 2 forward mounted adjustable body mounts, all with flip-tops.  The durable machined alu shock-risers in front allow for a more on road aimed angle of the shock absorber creating more overall grip and more predictable cornering.

Angled steering system / servo saver

The bell cranks are angled to reduce the angle of difference between the total caster and steering plane. Therefore you will have less bump steer and a truer steering Ackerman through the entire range of suspension

Ackermann plates

With the design of the steering bell cranks when changing the Ackermann you will not need to adjust your steering tie rods. You simply will only need to adjust your end points on your radio..

Rear suspension arms

Durable oversized  lower suspension arms in strong composite nylon. On the lower side the special down stops screws are mounted. The lower shock-mounting pins are secured with a small grubscrew from the bottom.

Rear uprights assembly

New aluminum, black anodized and laser engraved uprights with 3 upper roll-center positions. Strong steel track-rods with L/R threading and strong ball joints  to pre-set camber. Spring steel wheel-axles with large size bearings 8x16x5 and 13x19x4  with precision threaded aluminum wheel-hubs with +3 offset  . Rubber dustcovers in the rear to protect the cvd system and keep the lubrication inside. Flanged wheel nuts to guarantee that you will not lose a wheel nut in a race.

Rear anti-roll bar

The ballraced front anti-roll bar  system, consist of a spring steel bend wire, which is guided through the diff-cases and runs in ballraced steel adaptors.  The wire is linked to the lower suspension arm, with a captured adjustable threaded pivot ball, for very precise and low friction  operation.

Shock tower rear / alu shock-risers

New 4.5mm thick carbon shock tower, integrated into the rear section for extra stiffness,  with 5 upper positioning holes for the shocks and 6 holes for roll-center positions.   The durable machined alu shock-risers in the rear allow for a more on road aimed angle of the shock absorber creating more overall grip and more predictable cornering.

Wing mount and body mounts rear

Composite rear wing, with strong nylon adjustable rear body mounts on wide body-support bridge located far enough to the rear, to support the bodies in best way.

Captured pivot pins and balls and bolted hinge pins

All spring-steel hinge pins are either captured or bolted in place and made in spring-steel quality. This insures your chances to finish an hour long main event, while battling for the lead.  This relieves stress on the hinge pin when adjusting the kick up, or anti squat. Your pin is free to rotate to any angle without binding.

Shock absorbers big-bore 16mm

Hard Teflon coated threaded shock bodies with 4mm shock-rods.  Black anodized aluminum screw on shock-tops with Serpent laser engraving. Pre-load adjusters with O-rings inside.  Shocks use  large diameter membranes and large diameter O-rings  and bushings to create a  super smooth  and leak-proof package.  Large diameter pistons are held in place by a nut on the polished shock-rods tops.
