SCX10-based Croc Hunter Land Cruiser [Reader’s Ride]

SCX10-based Croc Hunter Land Cruiser [Reader’s Ride]

Wesley Steinke’s truck started off as an Axial SCX10 Honcho, but with a donor body from a Crocodile Hunter toy truck, it’s now a beautifully detailed Toyota Land Cruiser 70 UTE complete with a reworked drivetrain to accommodate the body’s shorter wheelbase. The upper and lower links and MIP driveshafts were cut down, re-centered and welded to fit the altered wheelbase. Wes also welded up a custom rear spare tire carrier and added a handmade front bumper. The roof rack is a 3D-printed piece from Brazin Scale that has an integrated Cobb LED strip light bar. He installed Beef tubes front and rear so he could clock the pinion angles of the axles while maintaining the proper driveshaft and caster geometries. Wes uses it mainly for long trail runs, as well as local TTC and G6-style events. It looks very complete but Wes assures us he’s not done—the truck will continue to evolve as he is inspired to build in more custom touches.
