Axial Wraith Corvette Conversion by Dan Boyle [Reader’s Ride]

We featured another of Dan Boyle’s creations a few months ago, and every time we get an email from him with a new project we know it’s going to be something special. This time he sent photos of this sweet ’58 Corvette. Believe it or not, Dan started with an Axial Wraith chassis, on which he hung a custom straight axle front end fabricated from stainless steel on leaf springs. He also fabricated headers for the highly detailed V8 by hand-bending heavy copper wire. He also added metal velocity stacks and a scale battery with wiring. The period-correct wheels and tires are sourced from a Kyosho Scorpion, with the rears shaved down to create slicks. Juice comes from a Castle Sidewinder 3 brushless motor and controller. It’s a beautiful machine, and we’d love to see it light up those shaved down slicks!
