2015 Pro-Line April Fools Classic: The Event Kicks Off

2015 Pro-Line April Fools Classic: The Event Kicks Off

The April Fools Classic has been a favorite for veteran racers for many years and has been one of those events that has that great hometown feel. Traditionally held at Intermountain RC Raceway in Utah, the race track and its famous dirt is beloved by drivers like Team Associated’s Brian Kinwald and is one of those events that may lack the exposure due to its geographic location, but consistently provides competitive racing and great traction year after year. The track recently went through an ownership change and moved across town in to a facility that can rival any other, anywhere. Not willing to give up the amazing dirt, the owner took great measures to move the dark dirt/clay in to the new spot.

With just a couple of months in the new complex, great measures were taken to ensure the continuing success of this event. The track crew shoveled, tamped and sweat over the details and put in a very technical track layout. The track is fairly small by any standards, and really tests driver’s throttle control and car setup knowledge. Patience is key and every section on the track is crammed with features like off-camber turns, chicanes, jumps with unusual timing, berms, and elevation changes to keep laps in the 20 second range- a lot of time considering the dimensions of the track. With practice finished up, its time to start the four qualifying heats today with three more on Saturday and mains on Sunday. Stay tuned, we will be bringing you the behind-the-scenes stories, photos, videos and a whole lot more.
