Ford Built 3/8 Scale RC Cars–In the 1950s!

And you thought 1/5 scale RC cars were big–have a look at these 3/8 scale (a little over 1/3 scale) RC cars built by Ford back in the 1950s. Hat-tip to Mac’s Motor City Garage for posting the pics and video. The story behind these cars is fascinating:

“…Tremulis and a studio staffer, Romeyne Hammond, constructed radio control systems, adapting six-volt car batteries, convertible top motors, and other full-size components from the Ford parts bins… Along with power, braking, and turning, the radio control system also reportedly operated the headlights, brake lamps, and turn signals.”
